Sundance Metallic
Posted in Uncategorized with tags 2009, Matrix, New car, Orange, Toyota on February 12, 2009 by manxtSo my car needs to be replaced, there is no question. It has a missing driver side window (that I drove all winter with) bad brakes, bad tires, bad suspension, broken muffler, engine light and rad light always on, and its a bit of a gas guzzler. so for th elast few months Ive been looking at new cars and finally decided on a 2009 Toyota Matrix. Yesterday I went in to do all the paperwork, drew a bank draft from my account for $2k as a initial payment, called my insurance company, Settled on a payment plan. Today Im expecting the call to arrange a delivery and uh-oh, they don’t have the colour I wanted anywhere in Canada. Well… It only comes in 8 colours (4 really, considering black, white, grey and silver arn’t colors) and the only colour I wanted was this really nice dark orange metallic looking, the others being red and two shades of blue and way too boring.
So guess what, my beat up ford is going to have to do for now
Why should I have to settle for black. More like bleck. Am I crazy?
What’s a penny worth these days?
Posted in Uncategorized with tags feel good, nursing home, pennies on February 11, 2009 by manxtMy mom is a nurse at a long term care facility (nursing home) and they have a penny drive going on for Alzheimer’s, and I thought, well I have a half a jar of pennies here and the home is a short walk away, so I’ll just quickly step over.
It’s amazing what a small gesture can do when put in the right place. A few short minutes of my life brightened the day of a small group of old ladies that saw me came in and donate the pennies. Plenty of “oohs” And “what a nice boy” (I’m 27) and smiles all around. They commented that my mom did a good job raising me to save my pennies and be a nice boy (though the penny saving might just be in my dutch blood) and of course she was just a few steps away smiling too. I reminded one of them of her own grandson with the same name and I really didn’t even say much while I was there, just smiled and dumped my pennies into a big jar and listened to them for a few minutes.
I probably only came in there with about nine dollars worth of pennies, but I left feeling like a million bucks.
A new PSP game
Posted in Uncategorized with tags game, God of war, PSP on February 10, 2009 by manxtSo I bought God of War: Chains of Olympus for the PSP. Nice little game, plays exactly like the large console versions. This brings my game count up to 6, not bad considering I only bought the PSP two sundays ago. I was always more of a PC gamer than a console gamer, but for portable gaming, this beats a laptop by far, unless you want to spend more than $1000. Not that I don’t want a laptop, mind you. It makes a good portable mp3 player as well.
